Old double storey Victorian Terraces are a part of inner city housing stock that have sparked a romantic nostalgia in Melbourne, with purchasers buying up pieces of history dotted across the city. The owners appreciate the Victorian history, originally the home of Anglican Church Minister Joseph Docker, but also wanted to live in a more modern house.
Behind the original street façade is the shell of the building. The design retains the formal front rooms and opens up the space to be more fluid. The original staircase and balustrade have been carefully restored to reveal an authentic patina that comes with the age of the building. The way it is finished carefully preserves its past.
