Brighton Residence – In Studio

The B.E studio is very excited by all the new projects currently underway, in particular, the Brighton Residence to be built in Melbourne’s south-east. The house is being designed for a family relocating from a large rural property to their new suburban address by the sea. The unique aspect of this project is the triangular shaped block of land that has led to a uniquely shaped house which opens up to the northern light that is directed through the site’s irregular angles.

The house will be a concrete shell clad in granite blocks externally. The upper storey has inset stone eaves with solid timber wall linings and operable timber screens, creating a balance for the split face blocks. The internal palette is based around a sand-blasted white concrete ceiling throughout the ground floor. The walls inside are planes of solid timber panels, solid plaster or felt. The materials are subdued and timeless, their subtle tones accentuated by the availability of northern light.

Stay tuned for more progress updates on the Brighton Residence…
