When a project calls for a very particular component be it furniture, joinery, lighting, anything – because each project is unique and what you need isn’t always available on the market at any given time, more often than not it requires said item to be custom made and so we make things. We are often asked by clients to assist with curating unique pieces of art, and sometimes even entire collections for their new homes. Art comes in many forms, and contemporary art requires more consideration than simply hanging a painting on a wall and finding a place for a sculpture. Design has begun on a new coastal project Hitchcock Avenue Residence, which is to be our first project in Barwon Heads, Victoria. The new house tucked away atop rolling white sand dunes and among luscious tea trees, will feature natural building materials reflective of the surrounding environment.
We wanted to showcase a building that was done by our studio roughly two decades ago, that is still relevant in the current architectural landscape. Ideas that were implemented in this project have subsequently been developed and refined, and still inform our practice to this day!
