We are honoured to have had the pleasure of speaking with Marcus Baumgart about the process of refining our designs, the importance of timelessness and materiality in our projects, and some of our recently completed projects in more detail.
The shortlist for the Houses Awards 2019 have just been revealed, and we are delighted to have the Mermaid Beach Residence included in this year’s shortlist. Congratulations to all the practices and projects who made the list this year, we are looking forward to seeing the winners announced at the event in July at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne. It has been an eventful awards season for B.E Architecture with St Vincent’s Place and James Street Residences being shortlisted in the Australian Institute of Architects Heritage Architecture category along with our St Vincent’s Place also being shortlisted in the Residential Architecture – Houses (Alterations & Additions) category.
The Australian Interior Design Awards have recently announced their list of shortlisted projects for 2018. We are honoured to have the St Vincents Place Residence included in the running for the “Residential Design” category. We are especially excited because this is our first-ever project to be shortlisted in the Australian Interior Design Awards program! The St Vincents Place Residence is featured in the February 2018 issue of Interior Design Magazine Homes. The publication is on stands throughout the United States.
If you picked up some reading over the holidays, you may have come across the St Vincents Place Residence in the January Vogue Living Magazine. The issue is focused on “The Best of Australian Interior Design”. The feature story by editor, Annemarie Kiely includes the first images of the project taken by photographer Sharyn Cairns.

Directors Broderick Ely and Andrew Piva recently joined a group esteemed designers at the Stokehouse for an event hosted by House and Garden Magazine to announce their 2017 list of “Top 50 Rooms”. B.E Architecture is honoured to be included in this year’s lineup which is published in the special edition of the House and Garden. In addition to the publication, B.E’s project is one of the finalists for the “Best use of Materials’ and “Best Kitchen”.
